Do I have to do my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualification before I can do the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course?

Great question!  The quick answer is that with TLC’s courses, you don’t have to complete each preceding Belt qualification before progressing to the next one.  So you don’t need to have done Yellow Belt to be able to do Green Belt, and you don’t need to do Green Belt to be able to embark on your Black Belt studies.

Of course, becoming a Black Belt is a significant investment in both time and money.  It is a very challenging course and will demand your full commitment.  If it is not needed for your job or your career plans now, or if you’re not sure whether you will enjoy the Lean Six Sigma field, it’s a good idea to start with Green Belt.  That way you can tackle some smaller projects, before deciding if the full Black Belt qualification is what you want.  And if you have successfully completed TLC’s Green Belt course, you can choose to do the bridging programme to Black Belt when you are ready, so you won’t incur double costs.

One exception is the journey to becoming a Master Black Belt.  Here you have to have qualified in full as a Black Belt, before you can tackle the additional programme towards the ultimate certification in the industry, as a Master Black Belt.
